Monteriggioni Tuscany
The walled village of Monteriggioni in Tuscany

Monteriggioni is one of the most famous and attractive castles in all Tuscany. Its curtain wall and fourteen towers are virtually intact, and the interior is now occupied by a small and peaceful village. There is almost no traffic. Every year an excellent Festa Medievale takes place on the first weekend of July. The inhabitants of Monteriggioni plus some professionals demonstrate mediaeval occupations and professions, appropriately costumed.
