San Miniato San Miniato is an attractive town half-way between Florence and Pisa formerly known as San Miniato al Tedesco to distinguish it from San Miniato al Monte, the beautiful basilica just above Florence. San Miniato has a fine cathedral of enormous size as well as a Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art, where the works of Filippo Lippi, Neri di Bicci, Fra Barlomeo and other artists are displayed. However, San Miniato is most famous for white truffles, being one of the most highly productive truffle-rich areas in Europe. The San Miniato National White Truffle Market is held here every year during the last three weeks of November.
