Greve in Chianti Greve in Chianti is a small town situated in the valley of the Greve stream, half-way along the scenic Chiantigiana highway (SS 222) that runs from Florence to Sienna. Greve has an attractive, arcaded, triangular piazza with several ceramics and wine shops, as well as restaurants, and there is a Coop supermarket five minutes walk from the main piazza. A small museum of religious art is housed in the old monastery of San Francesco and the fortified village of Montefioralle is about one mile away up a steep hill. The hills surrounding Greve have many beautiful agriturismi and other rural vacation accommodation, making it a centre for farm house holidays in this part of Tuscany. There are several historical castles and castellated villas in the area and many wineries where wine and olive oil may be tasted and bought. The Greve web site contains much useful information about Chianti.

Worth a brief visit.
